This Is Going To Hurt by Adam Kay

This is an absolute brilliant book I couldn't put it down. Insightful and hilariously funny, Adam Kay describes his life as a Junior Doctor with no holds barred. The book shines a light on the superb and sometimes damn right bizarre cases that the NHS staff take on daily, it also shows the high personal cost that practising medicine involves for a Junior Doctor.

Adam has portrayed his time with the NHS in a heartbreakingly, funny but truthful way and thanks to this brutally honest memoir I can no longer think of the much loved children's puppet Sooty in the same light.
( Full disclosure I snort laughed so hard reading this part)

This Is Going To Hurt is a book that is accessible to everyone you do not need an understanding of medicine as Kay has included some (at times) hilarious footnotes to describe the medical procedures/terminology used.

The highs and the lows of working within the NHS with the uphill battle to provide an outstanding service with limited funds are all covered. The next time someone moans to me about the NHS I'm going to hand them this book and tell them to come see me in a week once they've read it.

This Is Going To Hurt is available to buy now on Amazon.co.uk and from all good bookshops
